  Welcome escape film the rain today! Cosy retreat with attentive staff. Feels small on entry but opens out to a large second level. Nice, compact menu with light bites up to hearty mains. I had the butternut squash risotto which was tasty and my husband had the spaghetti and haddock, which was good, but more like a broth than a pasta dish! Looks like they serve yummy cakes too!

  Really friendly staff but the food was so disappointing. My pie was so hot I'm sure it had been microwaved and the seafood basket starter was horrible. Such a lot of competition in Ambleside - quite surprised that this place gets away with such a poor offering.

  This is an above-average place to eat and on request, can cater to some dietary requirements (gluten-free for example). The menu does seem to have become more restricted of late however, so we struggled with our choice somewhat, and these days it's less of a "tea room" and more of a cafe/restaurant.
  
  Dogs are allowed into the downstairs area, whereas the larger, upstairs room is dog-free.
